Other Dog Breeds

These dog breeds represent those that are in the AKC Miscellaneous Group, those that are trying to get full status in one of the 7 established groups, but haven’t quite made it yet.  They are not mutts. It can take several years before a purebred becomes a registered breed. There are also some that have no desire to be registered. Some of these dog breeds are common, some are quite rare.

These dog breeds don’t necessarily have any physical or mental characteristics in common. The only thing that links them together is the lack of official denomination. As a dog breed is approved, it is entered into their appropriate group.
